GOOD PRICES FOR BACONERS
DAIRYMEN'S OPPORTUNITY. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WELLSFORD, Thursday. There has been a further increase in the price of prime bacon pigs during the past month, and buyers for Auckland and Waikato factories are now. paying at the rate of 7d per lb. dead-weight for prime bacon pigs delivered to railway stations on the North Auckland line. Owing to the milk supply falling off there is rather a large proportion of pigs of about 1001b. to 1201b. offering, whereas the buyers prefer well-fattened pigs of from 1301b. to 1501b. dead-weight. The present price warrants a greater use being made of meals and other artificial foods to supplement the usual food of skim-milk, in order to top the pigs off quickly. .
