ARBITRATION COURT.
WORKERS' REPRESENTATIVE.
THE VOTING IN CHRISTCHURCH,
[BY TELEGRAI'H.--OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHMSTCHUItCH. Monday. So far as can be ascertained the Christchurch Boot Operatives' Union and th<s Christchurch Picture Theatre Employees' Union are the only local unions of those which have dealt, with the matter that have voted for Mr. A. L, Monteitb. for the position of workers' member on the Arbitration Court. The 1 other unions have voted fo:r the present member, Mr, Hiram Hunter. ■ There are still several unions which have not taken action, but as the voting closes on March 10 the majority will reach a decision this week. A. union secretary stated to-day that the mass of correspondence dealing with the question had assumed somewhat heavy proportionfi. The consequence vii that most of the unions were deciding the matter without having the numerous circulars, messages, appeals, extracts and instructions road to them. They preferred to decide (.lie issue mainly on the personal basis arid, as far as Christchurch was concerned, were mostly satisfied to vote for the sitting member.
