The Metropolitan Trotting Club's February meeting, to be held at Addington next Saturday, promises to be a great success, as nearly all the cracks are included in the big fields. Stroller continues to train on the right way. He has not been seen at his best in the Dominion to date, but it now looks as though he will show some of his reputed speed provided he keeps sound. E. Berry has just commenced on a brother to Willie Logan. The three-year-old is on the big side and he will take some time to get into, form. He is a useful sort of pacer. Bell Harold looks at his best at present. The big striding pacer moves along in rare style in his work, but he does not go impressively in a two mile race, A mile and a-quarter seems to suit him best. Sheik has never looked .better than he does at present 'His racing at New Year evidently sharpened him up. and he is bowling along in his training work in rare style. The Toff is trotting solidly in his work. It is a pity this horse cannot stay out a solH two mile race as he has plenty of speed Bingen Lad looks as though lie has done a good deal of work lately. He is pacing well and should show some improvement when next raced. W. J. Tomkinson has another trotter m Fancy Pronto. Ho was bred in Australia, and is by Don Pronto from Fancy Gantle, a trotter raced here by P. Riddle when that trainer made his first trip in 1914. Fancy Pronto has not a very attractive gait, but he can muster up a good deal of speed. He should show improvement as he has not been hers long from Australia. The ten horses who have had their engagements in the Champion Stakes —the three-year-old event at the Easier meeting of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, represent the best form in the Dominion, and they should -provide "a good contest. Native Chief has the best credentials, but Nantwich. Ayr and William The Great are others with prospects of providing interest in the classic event. Some time ago it was announced that the Canterbury Owners and Breeders' Association had received a totalisator permit for a benefit trotting meeting, whi<4i it was_ in- } tended to hold this month. The committee of th* 1 association hss now decirl<»d to abandon the idea of a meeting until next sea- ; son.

The pices, Orion Arcus Crm, ■who who hare been in P. Riddle"s stable for some time past, have been returned to their Atistralian owners.
