MOTIVES OF ROTARY.
WORK IN NEW ZEALAND. AMERICAN VISITOR PLEASED. The Rotary Club met yesterday, the president, Mr. J. F. Ewen, being in ike chair. An address on rotary topics was given by Mr. P. H. Lamb, of Hoquiam, Washington, formerly an international director. He said he was gratified to fmd in Auckland a perfect replica of rotary elsewhere in the world. New Zealand had.established a wonderful record iii five years, and there was no other country where rotary had such a firm foundation.
Rotary had. done a great work in the linking of 32 nations in common brotherhood. He laid stress on the need fpr living up, to the, rotary ideal of service in business, social and community life. The keynote of rotary was the motive of service which was being substituted for the motive of profit. In this way it was doing $ wonderful work, and it was supplying in a constantly' increasing measure the priceless ingredient of integrity and honour in the world of business.
The following were nominated to fill official positions-for the coming year:President, Mr. W. CoHman, vicepresident, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth: treasurer, Mr. G. W. Hutchison; secretary, Mr. J. W. Hutchinson; directors, Messrs. B. Fletcher, C. H. Furness, A. A. Lunn. J. "Wilson. The annual meeting ol the club will be held in a month's time.
