WORKMAN'S ILLNESS.
HAMILTON STREET TRENCH. LIFE SAVED AT HOSPITAL. [by correspondent.] HAMILTON. Monday. While working in a trench in a Hamilton Street on Saturday a borough employee named Robert Gilmer, of Tramways Road, Hamilton, became ill from what was believed to be coal gas poisoning. He was removed to the Waikato Hospital in a state of collapse, and Was treated for coal gas poisoning. He had a narrow escape from death. The patient made a quick recovery, and was able to return to' his home yesterday. The borough" officials disagreed with the hospital authorities' diagnosis, and contended that Mr.' Gilmer was a victim of sunstroke.
