DEVONPORT BOROUGH.

LOAN POLL NEXT MONTH. The Devonport Borough Council met last evening, tho Mayor, Mr. T. Lament, presiding. With the object of providing facilities for boat-owners to house their boats in lockers, a suggestion was submitted that lockers should he constructed under the Narrow Neck Hall, and an annual charge made for the accommodation. Tho suggestion was referred to iho engineer to prepare a design for submission to the Vauxliall Administrate j Committee. The Fire Brigades Committee reported that the new fire station had been completed, and recommended that furnishings should be purchased. The official opening of the building was fixed for February 6.

Complaints regarding the swimming and exercising of horses on Cheltenham Beach were received. It was resolved to have notice-boards erected stating that tho borough by-laws prohibited horses being on the beaches after 7 a.m. Resolutions in connection with the forthcoming loan proposals were considered. The poll will be held on February 24, and a public meeting will he addressed on February 18. when 'the various items will be explained.
