GIFT TO DEVONPORT.
LATE MR. NAPIER'S LIBRARY. A generous gift of what is considered to be one of the finest private libraries in New Zealand was received bv the Devonport Borough Council last evening. Mr. W. E. L. Napier, a member of the council, on behalf of his mother and family, stated that as a memorial to his father, the late Mr. W. J. Napier, the whole of his private library would he passed to the borough when adequate facilities were available to accommodate it. A proposal to raise a loan for establishment of a municipal library will he submitted to ratepayers in other proposals next month.
