SECURED TO BREAKWATER.

An unexpected visitor to Patea during the holidays was . a whale of the bottlenosed variety, about 30ft. in .length and 20ft. in girth, which came'ashore alongside the eastern breakwater after a southerly gale. Tho monster was first noticed by Mr. H. Prouse, who saw it floundering about near high-water mark. Later in tho day Messrs. E. Neilson and D. Palmer succeeded in securing it to the breakwater by means of a double length of fencing wire.
