THE RATANA CHURCH.
BAN ON THE; WORD " ATUA,! ?
f In. addition. to what is .obvious in its Creed, the following points are .worth noting .in connection with - the teachings of the Eatana. Church:
: , The .Maori word Atua, which has always previously been used for God, is objected to, and will not be used for a considerable period, as Eatana claims that it carries the rather to the Maori ituas than to the true God, Jehovah of Hosts. Therefore his followers are urged to use either Jehovah or tho Father when referring to God.
The prayer for the King-is to remain in the written service. The only important additions made are a short prayer for the president of the Church and a reference after the baptismal formula and the • benediction to the * Faithful Angels. The formula reads: " I baptise thee in the name of ..the.,.Father and. of the Son and of the'Holy'Ghost under the ministry of the Faithful Angols and the Holy Church ,in order , that you might be taught the true faith-and attain to life eternal, Jesus Christ is our Lord."
