QUESTION OF/A CONFERENCE [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] -' v TUAKAU. Friday. The proposal: by the ■ Tuakau, Town Board to conveno. a conference to discuss the present method of levying and collecting hospital dues was the subject of 23 replies. Fifteen . local bodies agreed to take part in the. conference. The Onehunga and Northcote Borough Councils and' the Mount Albert Eoad Board pointed out that the present method of hospital levy had been considered by the Auckland Suburban -.Local Bodies Association, with the result that a representative deputation had interviewed tho Prime Minister on the matter and his reply was now awaited. The Northcote council asked, in view of this position, what proposals the Tuakau Town Board intended to bring before the suggested conference. The Auckland City Council and the Otah'uhu Borough Council replied that they had decided to take no action regarding the conference. Three other local bodies advised that they had referred the proposal to the Suburbia Local Bodies' Association.

It was resolved to w.rite to the ?rinie Minister inquiring what decision he had come to in rssponse to the representations by tho deputation, the proposal for a conference to be deferred meanwhile.
