TELEPATHY AND CRIME.
TESTING A PROFESSOR. ACCEPTANCE OF CHALLENGE. CALCUTTA, Dm: 21. In view of the amazing claims regarding his powers of telepathy made by Professor Langsner, of Vienna, who now is visiting Calcutta, the Englishman newspaper challenged him to prove that he can unravel a crime by means of his telepathic powers. The challenge has been accepted. It is proposed while Professor Langsner is locked in his room, the. committee of investigation will stage a murder within the limits of the city. The murder completed, the committee will return to the hotel and release the professor, who will start his quest for the murderer, the body of the victim, and the weapon. Professor Langsner's only condition is that he be accompanied by some witness of the murder who will, in effect, act as a transmitting medium. The witness will be selected by the newspapers and the pair will be accompanied by another member of the committee, who will ensure that there is no communication between the professor and the observer. 1 The committee includes the editor of tho Englishman, Mr. Bartley, Deputy-Com-missioner of Police, and Mr. James, chairman of the Rotary Club.
