NEW MEMBER OF COUNCIL. [by telechaph.—OWN cohrespondent.'J TE AWAMUTU, Saturday. Mr. William Swain has been elected unopposed as a member of the Te Av/amutu Borough Council, succeeding Mr. C Spinley, deputy-Mayor, who resigned a fortnight ago. The mallard ducks sent to this district by the Auckland Acclimatisation Society have been liberated on a settler's farm in the Korakonui district, where the Manga tutu and Puniu streams are handy.
