LOSSES OF BATHERS.
NEW BRIGHTON THEFTS. POLICE MAKE AN ARREST. During the past few days, there has been a good deal of thieving from the clothesi of bathers at New Brighton, and a careful watch has been kept by the police, says a Christchurch paper. Their efforts were rewarded, when Constable Hislop arrested Percy Hector Wigg, aged 19, a labourer, of Richmond, on a charge of stealing V £l 6s lOd, two studs valued at Is and a silver pendant valued at Is, tho property of William Machin. > Wigg appeared before Mr. H. A. Young, S.M. Senior-Sergeant Lewin said the money and oiher articles had been stolen from the bathing sheds at New Brighton. Accused had been caught in the act, and, as other charges were likely to be made, he asksd for a remand. This was granted. There was no application for bail.
