AUSTRALIAN CRICKET.
THE SHEFFIELD SHIELD. N.S. WALES' GREAT SCORE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 11.35 p.m.) MELBOURNE. Dec. 30. The weather was dull and the wicket good for the continuation of the Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and Victoria. The former's first innings realised 705 (Gregory 32, Kelleway 145, Oldfield 129). In their second innings Victoria have lost four wickets for 83 runs. Oldfield opened briskly and although Kelleway took no risks Oldfield hit out at every loose ball. He gave a chance at 101, but then played faultlessly until caught at mid-on. Kelleway played careful, sound cricket, and the partnership added 226 runs. The Victorian bowling was weak and the fielding'"generally poor.
