NEW ZEALAND APPLES.
FUTURE OF EXPORTATION. BIG MARKET IN ENGLAND. THE FUTURE OUTLOOK BRIGHT. That there is almost unlimited scope for the exportation of New Zealand apples to the London market is the opinion of Mr. T W. Attwood, ex-president of the Now Zealand Fruit Growers' Association, who returneed to Wellington from England by the Ruapehu. Mr. Attwood has for the past 12 months represented the association in London, and at the Wembley Exhibition. In addition to this he has had the oversight of all shipments of New Zealand fruit arriving in England, inspected them for condition, and arranged marketing. "The standard of fruit shipped from New Zealand," said Mr. Attwood, "is the highest in the world. In appearance nothing can come up to the American apples, but in quality ours are infinitely superior." "You are quite optimistic regarding the future of the apple industry I he was asked. "Absolutely," Mr. Attwood answered. "From now on it will depend on exportation. There is no market in New Zea land, but one in England that can absorb all we can produce for many years to come, allowing for all reasonable increase. We must watch the quality, but that will be looked after. From this season control comes into operation. The chairman of the Control Board is now in England, where he is carrying on the work which we have been engaged in, the studying Ol shipping conditions, etc., and we are learning every day. Yes, the industry is all right. I have been working for it for 16 years, and I would not be in it if I voro not convinced of that fact.
