NEWMARKET BOROUGH.
DECISIONS OF COUNCIL. The Newmarket Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. S. Donaldson, presiding. Tho district telegraph engineer wrote stating that authority had already been obtained for the installation of an additional public telephone box in Broadway. The superintendent of polico at Auckland wrote stating that reinforcements were expected at an early date, and that the manning of the traffic points would receive first consideration. An inquiry was received from the Tuakau* Town Board as to whether the council was prepared to enter into conference for the purpose of discussing the present method of levying and collecting the hospital levy. Mr. F. J. O'Meara said the matter was already being discussed by the Local Bodies' Association. It was decided to reply that the council was not averse to a conference, The borough enginoer reported that it was hoped to have the street lighting completed before Christmas. A communication regarding the preservation of survey marks in streets was received from the Institute of Surveyors, and was referred to tho engineer to report. Copies of the Dangerous Goods (Cinematograph Films) Regulations, 1925, were forwarded by the Department of Internal Affairs with an intimation that they were to be administered by the department.
