' The Wanaka left Auckland at 8 o'clock last night for Lyttelton, Dunedin, Oamaru and Timaru. The Gisborno dredge Korua will shifty this morning from King's Wharf to the North Wall to continue her overhaul. The Wingatui left Dunedin at 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday for Oamaru, Timaru. Lyttelton and Picton to complete loading for Auckland. The Waipori is timed to sail at 5 o'clock this afternoon with general cargo for Napier and Wellington. She is loading at King's Wharf. THE TEKOA. Cargo operations on the Now Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Tokoa at •Queen's Wharf will be completed to-night and she is to sail at daybreak to-morrow for .Wellington to finish loading. She clears Wellington, on December 16 for London, via Panama. MAUNGANUI SAILS TO-MORROW. On her return trip to Sydney with passengers, mail and cargo, the Union Company's intercolonial steamer Maunganui_ leaves Auckland at 3 o'clock to-morrow afternoon. THE PORT HOBART. The Commonwealth and Dominion line motor-ship Port Hobart leaves Napier to-day for Auckland, where she is due on Saturday. She will complete loading here for London, and take her departure; on Tuesday. REMUERA SAILED. To complete discharge of cargo from London, the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Remuera sailed yesterday _ afternoon for Wellington. Afterwards ehe will load in the South, and then return to Auckland about the end of the month to complete her cargo. On Januarv 2 she will sail from here with/ passengers and mail for Southampton and London. COOK STRAIT FERRY SERVICE. The local office of the Union Company has received advice that the now steamer Tamahine will run a special excursion from Wellington to Picton on New Year's Day and Anniversary Day, January 22. On those days she will not be available for the usual passengers. She is to leave Wellington on January 0 and January 23 for Picton, taking passengers at usual rates, and returning to Wellington the same night. The Mararoa will be despatched as an additional eteamer from Wellington at 10 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, for Lyttelton. She returns to Wellington on Christinas Day; UNION COMPANY'S NEW TANKER. The Otokia. twin-screw Diesel-driven oi'i tanker, has been built and completed for the Union Ste,an Ship Company of New Zealand, .having been constructed under the supervision oi Mr. W. T. Tucker on behalf of the owners, and Mr. David Boyd, of Esplen. Son and Swainston. Limited. London. The vessel is built on the Ishcrwood System of the longitudinal framing. The principal dimensions being:—Length overall. 452 ft. 3in.; length, 8.P., 437 ft. 9in.; breadth mid., 57ft.; depth mid. to upper deck, 33ft. 9in; deadweight. 10,350 tons; gross tonnage, 1277 tons; speed, 12 knots. The vessel, has been constructed under Lloyd's special survey, for the carrying of petroleum and spirit in bulk. There are two pump, rooms with pumps of extra large capacity, two of which are fitted in the aft room and one in the forward room, all being controlled from the deck. The vessel has two masts, and seven derricks, the two derricks on the foremast are to lift five tons each. There two winchiis, 7in. by 12in., and one Sin. by 14in. steam winch on poop deck, and thero is also an llin. by 13in. steam windlass on the forecastle deck.

Accommodation is provided for a complement of 54 officers and men, the officers being berthed amidships. The galley is oil fired, and special heating and hot water systems have been installed throughout the accommodation.

The propelling machinery consists of two Betsi of single acting 2-cycle Diesel engine,-: of the Sulzer type, having a b.h.p. of about 3000. The fuelling arrangements are sufficient to// enable the vessel to travel for a distance of about 18,000 miles, without r&Dunkering._ , The engine room auxiliaries are of ample size and number for all purposes, being steam driven, for which two auxiliary boilers have been fitted on the upper deck, above the main cross bunker. Duplicate generators have bf>en fitted aft, one being a standby set of th© semi-Diesel type connected to an auxiliary compressor, and a 4 k.w. generator has been fitted under the poop ceck.

WHANGAPE LOADS FOR AUCKLAND. The Whansap© is duo at Newcastle on Sunday to load another cargo of coal for Auckland. DEVON SAILS AT NOON TO-DAY. After filling up with produce at Central Wharf, the Federal Lino steamer Devon sails at noon to-day for London and West of England ports, THE MIDDLESEX. The Federal Line steamer Middlesex is to sail at noon to-day for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge of cargo from Livorpool. MAHENO AT WELLINGTON. The Union Company's inter-colonial passenger steamer Maheno arrived at Wellington from Sydney at 9 o'clock on Tuesday night. She is to sail for Sydney at 11 o'clock to-morrow morning. DOCKING ARRANGEMENTS. Having had her hull cleaned and painted the cable steamer Iris came out of dock yesterday and returnod to her moorings at Devonport. Tho Katoa, which is under overhaul, will bo docked for cleaning to-day. WEST NIVARIA'S CARGO. Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlano have ! received advice that the Swayne and Hoyt Line steamer West Nivaria, which is duo at Auckland about December 28, from Los Angelas, wijl discharge the following cargo at this port:—soo,oooft. of lumber, 17,500 cases of oil, and 1075 tons of general cargo. Tho remainder of the cargo is for Wellington, Timaru and Melbourne. CARGO FROM AUSTRALIA, _ Tho Union Company advises that the Kartigi is to leave Adelaide toward the end of this week and Melbourne about the middle of tho month with general cargo for discharge at Auckland,, Wellington, Lyttelton. and Dunedin. THE HAURAKI. The Union Company's motor-ship Hauraki is announced to leave Auckland to-morrow afternoon for Wellington, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide in continuation of her voyage from Pacific Coast ports. She is loading cargo here for Melbourne and Adelaide. MAHENO'S CHRISTMAS RUNNING. The Union Company advises that the Maheno is scheduled to leave Sydney on December 17 for Auckland, arriving here on Tuesday, December 22. She is announced to leave Auckland for Sydney at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 24. KAIKORAI FROM FIJL From Sydney, via Suva, the Kaikorai arrived at Lautoko at 8.30 a.m. yesterday. She is expected to clear Lautoko on t riday evening fox Auckland, arriving here on Wednesday. TARANSAY FROM MONTREAL. Under charter to tho New Zealand Shipping Company the steamer Taransay arrived last night from Sydney (Cape Breton) and Montreal. She will berth this morning at Prince's Wharf to unload general cargo for this port, i rom Auckland she will go to Wellington, New Plymouth, Lyttelton, Dunedin. Sydney and Melbourne to complete discharge. THE CITY OF CORINTH. Now discharging at Prince's Wharf the City of Corinth is to sail at mid-day to-mor-row for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Tasmania, in continuation of her voyage from New York. WAIMANA AT LIVERPOOL. According to cable advice the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Waimana arrived at Liverpool on Monday from Auckland. The members of the crew went on strike at Auckland and were replaced by volunteer se.am.en. Tho ship was despatched from this port on October 20 for New York, Boston and London. CUTCOMBE LEAVES NEW PLYMOUTH. In continuation of her voyage from Nauru Island tho tram" steamer Cutcombe left New Plymouth at 4 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon for Auckland and arrives early tomorrow morning. She will discharge the remainder of her phosphate cargo, 4700 tons, at King's Wharf, to the agency of Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
