DEATH IN BACK BLOCKS.
SUFFERER FROM DEPRESSION,, [BY, TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TE AWAMUTU., Monduy. Information has been received in Te Awamutu to-day that a man named T, McFarlane, employed as a' rabbiter on a large partly-ijnproyed holding in thei Wharepuhunga district, nearly 25 miles south-east of To Awamutu, had been found dead in his bunk. Constables Mahoney, of Kihikilii, and Hooker, of To Awamutu, went out to investigate, and after »' strenuous trip, over rough country the whare was reached. McFarlane's mate, Howie, stated that on awakening this morning he called McFarlane, but getting no reponse found him dead. McFarlane left a letter indicating that ho proposed ending his life. He had been very despondent lor some days and had indicated that he was contemplating suicide by poisoning. The body was brought over a very hilly track to the nearest road and thence by car to Kihikilii, where an inquest will ,be held to-morrow morning. It is understood that McFarlane, who was -about 45 years of age, has a brother residing in, Duncdin.
