A unique baptismal ceremony. was held on board the steamer Matangi on Saturday morning, when Edwin Gordon Lascelles, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Wright, was christened, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. J. W. Smyth. The child was born on board the steamer on the trip to Tauranga op the morning of October 27. Captain Dorling said ho had been on many vessels during his career, but this was the first baptism he had attended on board. He presented the child with a silver mug, jsuitably inscribed, and calledsfor three cheers for .Mr. and Mrs. Wright and son, These were heartily given. ,
