THE PRISONS BOARD.

AUCKLAND SITTING TO-DAY, ABOUT FOUR HUNDRED CASES. The Prisons Board will commence a sitting in Auckland at Mount Eden gaol this morning. The members of the board are: Sir Robert Stout, chairman, Sir George Fen wick, of Dunedin, Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, of Wellington, Mr. M. Hawkins, Controller-General of Prisons, Mr. W. Recce, of Christchurch, Mr. E. Hall, of Orrchunga, and Mr. C. B. Jordan, of Tauranga.

The Southern members of the board will arrive by train this morning Nearly 400 cases are to be dealt with, and it is expected the sitting will continue until next Wednesday.

From Auckland the board will proceed to the Waikeria Borstal Institute, Te Awamutu.
