CROSSING ACCIDENT.

MOTOR-LORRY AT PETONE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Fridav. An empty motor-lorry, driven by the owner, Mr. Boyd, was struck by a train at Petone level crossing. The lorry was badly damaged. Mr. Boyd had stopped while a shunting engine passed, and then had his attention fixed on a train approaching from the city. As he restarted vehicle ha did not notice another train coming from Hutt on the down-iine, and though on becoming aware of it he swerved, it was too late to avoid a collision. Mr. Boyd escaped iiajiwy.
