POLICE COURT NEWS.
A PAIR OF BOOTS STOLEN. THREE MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT. The theft of a pair of boots from a shop in Karangahape Roar] was admitted in tho Police Court yesterday, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., by Thomas Ilenry Massieks, aged 62. It was stated by the police that accused took the boots from outside the shop and was seen to put them in his pocket. It was his 50th appearance in the Court. A sentence of three months' imprisonment was imposed. MOTOR-CAR ANI) A TRAIN. A motor-car driver, R. W. Mitchell (Mr, Gblister), was charged by the Railway Department (Mr. Hubble) with having' failed to stop before coming to a railway crossing. The charge arose out of an incident at the railway siding in Quay Street leading to the Power Board yard. Defendant was stated to have been given signals to slop by the men iu charge of the train, but he continued straight on and collided with the train. Mr. Glaistor submitted that the siding was not a railway within the Meaning of the Act. The magistrate decided that the siding was n railway, and convicted defendant and ordered him to pay costs. At Mr. Glaister's request, a fine of £5 was im-no-ed to allow of the case being taken further. SUNDAY TRADING CASES.
