NOTES FROM ELLERSLIE.

GOSSIP OF THE TRACKS. BY ARCHER. R. Harmon arrived on Thursday evening with a team of eight, including Roman teldy, Curealorm, Royal Abbey and King a Guard. The following are the probable riders ami their mounts in the Mitchelaon Cup:—W Ryan (Musketoon). M. Conway (Income), K. Flower (Muraahi), A. Tinker (Ruapapa), xi. Wiggins (Star Ranger), L. Manson (Polonett), A. McCorinack (Town Hank). W. H. Jones (Royal Present), J. Barry (Te Monanut), W. ling by (Gold Jacket). R. Orange (Boomerday), F. Foster (Cureaform) 11. Dulieu JGien Canny), A. Driscoll (Right and Lett), L. Tuohey (Barometer), B. Cammick (Desert Glow), and T. Tito (Vaward). 11. Russell intends t.o start both Civility and Siaosi in the Shorts Handicap if the going keeps good. L. Dulieu will ride one and C. Brown will be on the other. Ciyihts is a good mare and may be the pick of tne pair, as S.aosi has not long recovered from the effect" of a poisoned leg and IS' probably not quite bo fit as the former. Both loot: brisht and well and worked nicely on lbursdav. IT. Dulieu will ride Finelli and Air Queen and will most likely pilot Phaola in the Welcome Stakes. Master Doon has been f,printing well and in a very fit horse. There is no question of his being able to win among the open sprinters when right, as he proved it most "dearly when he won the Railway Handicap. Being a true horse, he should take a lot of beating in the Shorts Handicap. Oration is engaged in both the Great Northern Guineas and the Shorts Handicap, but is to be reserved for the latter event. His form as a two-year-old left the lmpresrion that he would be a fine sprinter tin season, and the manner in which he over five furlongs on Tuesday showed that his speed is still with him. Oration has not yet shown any form this season, but is assured of good support to-day. Three Welcome Stakes candidates in Helen, Kiosk and Lysander were runners in the Wellesley Stakes at Trent ham last month. The first-named finished second, with the other pair unplaced, but Kiosk subsequently won the Nainai Handicap. Kiosk has shown up well in his work at Ellershe, and may be the pick of the trio at present but on form Helen must have a chance to-day. Lysander in a very nice colt ana has line speed. Ho should come good later on. Matinee was travelling very fast in fourth place in the Instow Handicap at le Rapa on Labour Day. This fellow is a trine in and out, but if to-day is one of his good days he should race prominently, m the Flying Handicap. Seven furlongs is a distance that ho can gallop well. None of the two-year-olds have been working more attractively than Royal Tea, but he has not yet had a race, and that may tell against him. Royal lea can fast and should show up at some stage ci the Welcome Stakes. Euphonium bears a well-trained appearance and is an improving horse that many Southerners expect to do well this season. 21 e is engaged in the Flying Handicap today. Muraahi has not shown any form up to the present this season. Recent racing has effected an improvement in hia condition, and it may not be long before he is showing some of his old dash. Muraahi looks bright and well, and may run a good race in the Mitchelson Cup. TAKAFUNA JOCKEY CLUB.
