TIPPING THE WINNERS.
PROSECUTIONS IN SYDNEY. ALLEGED BREACHES OF ACT. A. and X.Z. SYDNEY. Oct. 24. The police have awakened to sudden activity in connection with the steadilyincreasing publication in newspapers of racing tipsters' advertisements. They have laid 46 informations under the Betting Act against a number of daily and weekly papers, also a number against tipsters. The hearings of the informations against t/b'e newspapers have been adjoiyned until November 6. Nine of the tipsters have been fined sums ranging from £1 to £lO on charges of having caused the advertisements to be published.
