THE COUNTRY PARTY.
Sir, —I have been glad to read Mr. Mellsop's letters re the Country Party. When Mr. Munro and Mr. Duxfield visited the Tauranga electorate as organisers of the Farmers' Union, lecturing and seeking support for a Country "Party candidate, I was much surprised and disgusted to discover by their speeches that they were most decidedly hostile to the Government. Now that Mr. Mellsop has brought this matter properly under public notice, the Country Party should be all asked to stand down. They are a menace by putting a third party in the field, thereby splitting the votes, and I feel most assuredly that they will vote against the Government if returned. So_ in my opinion they are completely misrepresenting the farmers. That they are not wanted can be seen by the lack of interest shown at their present meetings. Farmer's Wife.
