BY ARCHER. Racing will commence with the Maiden Hunters' Steeplechase, for which there are six acceptors of very mediocre class. It is probable that Ginger Carl and Auburn will be tho popular fancies, but it will not take a good one to beat them. I know little concerning the country-trained trio. Illowa, Colonel Abbey and Hats Off.' The lastnamed was taken to Hawke's Bay last winter, but did not race there. The Bardowie Hack Handicap has always been a difficult race for hackers, as it invariably attracts a big field of horses, many of whom are of unknown quantity. I his year it is to be run, in two divisions and that may help backers. Lacemaker, Killute and Sulla are a trio that may oe in the firing line in the first division, and Wyoming, Quincoma and Air Queen in the second division. „ , , The Hunters' Hurdle Race has drawn a good field and should provide a good betting race. The popular fancies may be Kauri Park, King's Guard and Tawehi. Nine well-known performers are down for engagement in the Members Memorial Handicap. Boomerday won the event last year and should again race prominently on this occasion. His most dangerous °P" ponenta may be Barometer, who has been galloping well, and Royal Present. . A "ood field of hunters is engaged in the Waikato Hunt Cup and fancies may take a fairly wide range. Royal .Abbey, Hypothesis and RaSerty are a trio that I should find good support. Form in the Hunters Hurdle Race may ! give a guide to the Ladies' Bracelet, for ! which King's Guard, Kauri Park and Homai 1 may be among the popular fancies. The Instow Handicap has drawn an ex- | ceilent field of sprinters, and should be the best betting event of the day. It would he difficult- to name the favourite, but Broadi wood, Daylight and Town Bank should all I be in strong demand. AUSTRALIAN RACING. MOON EE VALLEY MEETING. VICTORY FOR MANFRED.
