OBITUARY.

LORD MARCH AM LEY. (Received 8.55 p.m.) Renter. LONDON. Oct,. 21. The death is announced of Lord Marcbamley'(formerly Mr. George Whitcley), Privy Councillor, aged 70. The late >iord Marcbamley was the first baron, having been raised to the peerage in 1908. He was born in 1855 and was a son ofTTJr. G. Whiteley, of Halifax. Ho was M.P. for Stockport from 1893 to 1900, and for l'udsley, Yorkshire, from 1900' to 1903, and Patronage Secretary of the Treasury, 1905-8. His heir is the Hon. T. Whiteley. LORD RIB3LESDALE. Router. LONDON Oct. 21. The death has occurred of Lord Ribblesdale, aged 71. The late Lord Ribblesdale, fourth Baron Ribblesdale, was born at Font.ainehl.eau, France, in 1854. His first wife, Charlotte Monckton,* was a daughter of Sir Charles Tennant. In 1919 he married again, his second wife being the widow of Colonel J. J. Astor. Lord Ribblesdale eonunenoed an Army career in 1873, retiring iu 1886 with the- rank of major. He interested himself in sport and was master of Buckhounds for three years. Lord Eibblesdale leaves no heir.
