STOCKS AND SHARES.
AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. The inquiry for New Zealand Government. securities which was apparent on the Auckland sharemarket on Wednesday was maintained yesterday. A sale of the 1927 issue of War Loan occurred at £9B ss, 5s below the previous sale figure. Late inquiry was at £97 10s. lu hanks New Zealands firmed, holders being threepence better at 57s and buyers at 56s 6d. In insurances there was a sale ,of New Zealands at 36s 3d, closing holders being a penny lower at 36s sd, buyers 36s 2d, South British were available at 50s 9d, inquiry still being at 50s 3d. In finance New Zealand Loan and Mercantile sold at £92 10s, closing holders asking £94, buyers £92. In miscellaneous lines New Zealand Breweries changed hands at 49s 9d, late quotations being holders, 50s, buyers, 49s 3d. Taranaki Oils were weaker than on the previous day, sales taking place at 23s 6d and 235. More were available at the latter price, buyers reducing their offers to 21s. A sale of Wilsons Cement took place at the improved figure of 34s 9d. Late holders were at'3ss, buyers, 34s 6d. In mining Kawaraus advanced on Wednesday's prices and sold at 7s, 7s Id and 7s 2d. Late holders improved to 7s 3d, and buyers to 7s Id. Majestic again changed hands at Is 9d, and Zeehan sold at 2s 6d, with late holders asking 3s. Waihis were sousjht at 255, holders being at 25s 9d.
