WAIH'I OPERATIONS. The following information has been cabled by the Waihi Company to its head office, London: —" No. 10 level, Martha lode.—Driving cast of Lowrie crosscut, the next 46ft assays 2s 9d per ton. At 161 ft we have driven a crosscut 27ft to the north through a mixture of quartz and country, assaying 4s 6d per ton. No. 11 level, Edward 10de..-—At 1130 ft south we have driven a crosscut to the south-east. The first 53ft is in country and the next 14ft in reef. The assay value is 5s 3d per ton. The last 10ft is in country. No. 12 level. —In the Martyn south-east crosscut from the Empire lode the first 54ft is in country and the next 4ft south in a branch of the Dreadnought lode. The assay value is 10s 3d per ton. The next 6ft is a mixture of quartz and country, assaying Is 9d per ton. No. 13 level Edward lode. —Driving south along the east wall the next 28ft _ assays 8s 3d per ton. No. 15 level.—Driving west of the No. 4 shaft north crosscut, at 98ft wo have penetrated the south section of the Martha lode diagnonallv for 17ft. The assay value is 2s per ton." MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Alburnia. —The Norwegian level has been picked up, re-timbered and rails laid a further 20ft., making a total of 995 ft. from the entrance and leaves 40ft. to reach the face. Progress was slower owing to unexpectedly heavy country being met. Majestic.—During the past fortnight the south face on the Maratoto reef was extended 70ffc., making a total distance of 977 ft, from the main crosscut. The reef is tho full width of tho drive without either the bangingwiill or footwall being exposed and is a- splendid body of ore. _ As the drive progresses improvement is being shown and. as tho present face is approaching a point corresponding with the high country existing on tho surface, tho recent developments are very encouraging.
