TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours, from 7 a.m. to-day, was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening :—Unsettled weather, with heavy rain, is indicated, due to tropical influences centred to the northwest. Conditions will improve again before the week-end. Northerly to north-easterly winds, strong to gale, backing by west to south, then decreasing. Seas rough. Barometer, midnight, 29.83 in.; steady. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening that the indications were for easterly winds, ' strong to gale, veering to southerlies northward ol New Plymouth and Castlepoint, and strong northeast to south-east winds elsewhere. Dull, misty weather, with rain generally and heavy rain in northern and east coast districts of the North Island, could be expected. The barometer was falling, but would rise after abont 16 hours.
