MAIL COACH CAPSIZED.

driver and horses unhurt. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] OPOTIKI. Thursday. A mail coach-driver, E. R. Garth, in the employ of Messrs. Kelly and Fleming on the Hawai run, had a narrow escape on the hill near Torere. The road is in bad order and is very greasy after rain. The coach capsized over the side of the hill, the brake not being able to hold it. One wheel was smashed. Fortunately the driver and horses escaped without serious injury. Mr.Garth took the mail to Hawai on horseback, 'staying at Torere that night arid riding , back to Opotiki yesterday.
