AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.
. A feature of the activity on the Ancrfcland sharemarket yesterday was the interest taken in brewery debentures and shares and in Taranaki Oil shares. There was no demand for Government securities. In commercial debentures there was a sale of New Zealand Breweries at the firmer figure of 23s 3d, late inquiry being- at 235. In banks, there was a further sale of New Zealands at 56s 9d, with closing holders again at 575, buyers 55s 6d. In insurance New Zealands were unaltered, holders being at 36s 6cl. buyers 35s 9d. Three sales of South British occurred at the ruling price of 50s, closing inquiry at 49s 6d being met by holders' quotation at 50s 6d. In gas Aucklands sold again at 225. In breweries Wards were available at 68s, buyers 66s 6cL A transaction in Crowns was reported at 26s 9d. New Zealands sold at 47s 6d, 2s 6d below the previous sale figure, with holders asking 50s and buyers at 475. In miscellaneous lines there was continued activity in Taranaki Oils. The market opened as it did on the previous day at 22s 6d, and closed at 235. This was the final, sale figure on Wednesday. La,te holders asked 23s 2d, buyers 22s lOd. In mining Kawarans were firmer to sell in two instances at Bs, more being available at this figure, buyers 7s lOd. Waihis were at the previous day's quotations of holders 25s 6d, buyers 255. . The following sales took place: —New Zealand Breweries Debentures. 23s 3d; Bank of New Zealand, 56s 9d ; South British Insurance, 50s (three sales); Auckland Gas, 225; Crown Breweries, 26s 9d; Now Zealand Breweries, 47s 6d; Taranaki Oil, 22s 6d (three sales), 225, 22s 9d (two sales), 235; Kawarau, 8s (two sales).
