THE HAMILTON FESTIVAL. TOTAL OF 1100 ENTRIES. THE FIRST DAY'S RESULTS. [BX TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON. Thursday. The Hamilton Musical and Elocutionary Society's competitions commenced this morning. Addressing the competitors and supporters at the opening ceremony, the .president, Mr. H. C. Ross, said the competitions were a benefit to both competitors and patrons, who had their critical faculties improved and exercised. The judges are: Elocution and dramatic art, Mr. Culford Bell, Wellington; vocal music, Mr. S. Williamson, Christchurch; instrumental music, Mr. Bernard Page, Wellington; dancing, Miss Iris Montgomery, Christchurch; accompanist, Mr. Cyril Towsey, Auckland; assistant-accom-panist, Mrs. A. English, Hamilton. The entries total 1100. To-day's results are as follow : Piano Solo, under 12, "The Gardens of Fairyland."—Recalls: Joyce Monzies > Hamilton; L. Cavanagh, Rotorua; D.
