DEMENTED MOTHER'S ACT. OTHER CHILDREN MAY NOT LIVE A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, Oct. U. Of tile three children of Mrs. Nellie Cheeth&m, aged 34, of Newcastle, who were injured with ati axe yesterday by the mother, in a fit of dementia, the baby, six months old, has died. The other two are not expected to recover. It transpires that Mr. and Mrs. Cheetham' failed in a small business which they had been conducting. This preyed on the mother's mind. On the day before the tragedy she visited the police station in a very agitated state, and asked whether alio could !>e proceedoxl against for having failed in business. The woman's husband was sent for and lie had her examined by a mental specialist. The latter, however, is said to have decided that it was not necessary for her to be kept under restraint.
