AUSTRALIAN WIRELESS.
IRRITATING RESTRICTIONS. UNFAIR COMPETITION CAUSED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 13. Mr. G. M. Allard, of Amalgamated ! Wireless (Australasia), Ltd., publishes a I statement in the press regarding the wirei less position as between England and Australia. He says that if any wireless company in any British Dominion wishes to establish a commercial service in com- | petition with the cables between Britain | and the Dominions it cannot enjoy the ! same freedom, which is given to all cable companies and ail foreign wireless cornj panies, to make its own business arrange- ! nients with Britain. i Dominion wireless companies are comI pel led either to do their business through | a station operated by the British Post j Office or to abandon business altogether. The Australian Company felt that it I would be severely handicapped by this j restriction. The competition was not fair unless j the Australian Company were given the same freedom as its foreign competitors to make its business arrangements at. this end instead of being compelled to work | through the Post Office over which it had no control. His company, with tho full | support of the Common wealth Government, was asking for the right to conduct its business with the jaime freedom as the cable companies and the foreign wireless companies.
