TESTING "BEAM" INDICATORS

LONDON. Sept. 5.

Signor Marconi cruised to the Goodwins aboard his yacht Elettra in order to test the new "beam" wireless direction indicators, -which, designed to prevent fog mishaps, are working from the South Foreland lighthouse. A chart is marked in 64 sectors, to each of which a letter is given. The loud speaker of (he ship requiring direction hears the letter as the wireless beam sweeps round, together Avith four subsidiary signals, giving the position most accurately.
