THE HAURAKI PLAINS.
TWO BRIDGING PROJECTS. WAIHOU AND PIAKO RIVERS. {by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] THAMEB. Tuenday. The project, to build a £513,000 bridge over the Waihou River at Kopu is already well forward, and work will be commenced when the local body instalments are paid on October 1. The Hauraki Plains County Council has decided to bridge the Piako Bi.ver at Pipiroa and will probably institute a ferry service pending its erection. This will obviate the necessity of going to Auckland via Ngatea, a four hours' journey. The new route via. Kopu and Pipiroa will take motorists to Auckland in three hours and will also give residents of the Plains better facilities for shopping at Thames.
