BROADCASTING.

Sir, —I am sure all listeners-in fully endorse tlie complaints of 1 " G. 8." and " Disgusted" in the Hebau> of 15th inst. Tho interference during broadcasting hours from the local commercial station, VLB., is indocd, exasperating. This continual annoyance could easily bo eliminated by installing a valvo transmitter in placo of the present antiquated method of transmission by spark. This was done in Well? ington. It would bo very interesting to know what the new broadcasting cotnpany's future policy is. It has so far boon exceedingly reticent in regard to this important matter. Wo hopefully trust thai; there will be no more unpleasant surprises. Tho radio licensees have had one bitter disappointment already in that no provision was made in tho new agreement fpi' the listeners-in to be represented,- on tho Radio Board of Control. Messrs, fioodfeilow and Hariris, who formed this earnpany and signed the -agreement, have apparently an absolute free hand and it is hoped that they will give the . patient listener-in an efficient, servico for nig 30s per annum. Square Deal* Sir,—Let ma join in upholding " Disgusted V letter in Tuesday's Heeald re the disgraceful state of affairs that now mists in regard to tho Dominion broadcasting* scheme. In the early part of tKwi year a. scheme was launched whensby tUI license-holders were to pay the sum of 30s;, i to maintain an efficient broad-casting scr ;l vice. Tho sum was paid by tho listeners, but wo now find that, tho Government scheme will not be in operation before February and tho services of the "present privately-owued station will be , curtailed in as much as there will only be a fournights' service a week. Surefy after paying tho 30s we are entitled to a bette/ class of service and items than we are receiving at present. I would suggest that tho licenses which aro supposed to expire next May should be extended until such time as an efficient service is in full swing. Peevshj.
