The Auckland Society of Musicians held its usual bi-monthly meeting last Wednesday evening in the Lyceum Club rooms. There was a large attendance of members and associates. Mr. H. Bach pieces, "Claire de Lune," Debussy, study by Chopin, and two pieces by Leo Livens, a modern composer. One of these Livens pieces was specially written for the performer. An interesting musical programme was contributed by members. Mrs: Boult gave a short lecturette on Stravinsky's "Firebird," illustrated by gramophone records. A quartette party consisting of Miss Margaret Stoddart (leader), Misses Walls, Stevenson and L. Hemus gave a delightful rendering of two siring quartettes, one by Haydn and the other by Edric Cundell, a modern English composer. Miss Constance Howard sang "La Truile," by Schubert, and Miss Muriel Barr contributed "Pale Moon," by Logan., At the conclusion of the programme supper was served in the tearoom. ■. . . .
