THE HARBOUR BOARD.

BAYSWATER RECLAMATION.

BUILDING CONCRETE WALL.

The Auckland Harbour Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. H. R. Mackenzie, presiding. There were also present: Messrs. M. H. Wynyard, J. Henderson, G. Parr, A. M. Laing, E. C. Carr, W. H. Murray, C. G. Macindoe, J. B. Johnston, E. W. Inder, W. F. McCallura,. T. B. Clay and T. Bloodworth. The Taltapuna Tramways and Ferry Company forwarded a plan of the proposed reclamation adjoining Bayswater Wharf and asked for as long a lease as possible. The reclamation, it was stated, would be necessary in order to give improved traffic facilities in view of the steps being taken to electrify the tramway system. The matter was referred to the board in committee. It was agreed to construct an outside concrete wall at Bayswater for the purpose of providing a boat slip for the Takapuna Boating Club. The area will be leased to the club, which will be required to do any filling itself. The reclamation is expected to carry about 30 boats drawn up on the wall. It was decided to ask the board's solicitors to draw up an agreement covering the board's obligations in the proposed filling in of Stanley Bay Park. The board has agreed to pump 30,000 ajbic yards of spoil on to the park by means of a dredge, the work to cost £2500. _ A letter was received from the Minister for Internal Affairs thanking the board for the service rendered by the officials and staff in connection with the recent visit cf the American Fleet. A financial summary showed that receipts from Waitemata Harbour for the past eight months amounted to £250,294, which was an increase of £28,270 on the corresponding period of last year and exceded the estimates by £14,365. The sum of £5 5s was donated toward the Labour Day celebration funds.
