OBITUARY.
-MR. JOHN MUNRO.
The death of Mr. John Munro occurred at tho Auckland Hospital on Monday after a Serious operation. Mr. Munro was well-known in New Zealand banking circles for his integrity and'ability. Ho was born in Glasgow and came to Nc\v Zealand with ljjs parents when a. child. His early days wero spent at Westport and he was educated at. the Bishop's School, Nelson. He entered the Bank of New South Wales as a-youth, and served as a clerk at Westport and Auckland. For 30 years, ho was manager of branches at Patea, Stratford, Hastings, and ' Palmerston North. Since his retire-" ment three years • ago, he has lived at Auckland. Mrs. Munro survives him. The only son, Lieutenant Kenneth Munro, was killed at Armentieres, in 1916, and the only daughter died a few years ago. ' MR. ROBERT SLOAN, The death of Mr. Robert Sloan occurred suddenly at his residence, Mount. Edep, last week, at the ago of 86. Ho left Scotland 57 yc-ars ago for Australia, where he took up land at Gippsland.' Later he spent some years coffeo planting in Indja. .At the age of 50, he came to, New Zealand, and settled on back-., block land in the Gisborne district at Morere. He retired e.bout 20 years ago, and since lived at Takapuna and Mount Eden. He wrote many interesting articles on his experiences in India and Australia for English and Australian papers. There are two, sons, two daughters, and one grand-daughter. MR. E. L. MANNERS. [BY TELEGRAPH.-*"OWN CORRESPONDENT.] IB AIIOHA, Tuesday. • The death occurred cn Sunday evening of Mr. George Lawrence Manners, tailor, of Te Aroha, formerly a resident of New Plymouth, Wellington and West- - port. He caught a chill which developed into pleurisy. He was a member oi tho To Aroha Borough Council and was keenly interested in sport, especially Rugby football H© leaves a wife and three children. MR. HENRY J. BLYTH, [BY THXEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. J TAU.RANGA, Tuesday. The death has occurred of Mr. Henry James Blyth in his 91st year. He was a son of a well-known Edinburgh physician. After completing his education lie was appointed to the British Admiralty office in London and served there for 25 years. Ho rose to the position of chief clerk of the transport department and then retired on pension. Mr. Blyth left London with his family in the ship Wave Queen in 1879, landing at Wellington. Ho lived there for some years- and later moved to Greenhithc, near Auckland, where he purchased the terminal area of the peninsula, comprising 110 acres. After holding the Greenhithe property fu some years be sold out and for a time resided in Auckland and then in Rotorua. About 10 years ago lie bought a property on Cameron Road, Tauranga, and established a business which was conducted until a few months ago. He is survived by one son, Mr. Warren Blyth, of Takapuna, and three daughters, Mrs. Hands, wife of Rev. A. W. -Hands, Neveriden Vicarage, England, Mrs. Grace Fox. widow of the late Canon Fox, of Gisborne, and Miss Laura Blyth, of Tauranga. A man of fine character and broad views, tho late Mr. Blyth made many friends. MR. J. H. RICHARDSON. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PALMERSTON NORTH. Tuesday. The death occurred at his residence, Palmerston North, of Mr. John Henry Richardson, aged 80. Mr. Richardson was born at Maitland, New South Wales. He spent some years at Dunedin and later was at Dannevirke and Pahiatua, For lieny years past he lived in retirement with his family, first at Kimbolton and then at Palmerston North. He is survived by a widow, two sons and five daughters. The sons are Messrs. W. H. Richardson, Thames and E. M. Richardson, Tauniarunui. Three daughters are at Palmerston. Two others are married, Mrs. Walter Bailey, of Mangaweka and Mrs. J. W. Tompkins, Tauniarunui. Two sons were killed on active service.
