PRESENTATIONS.
Presentations to the two prize-winning nurses in the Auckland Hospital examinations were made at the meeting of the Hospital Board last evening, The chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, presented the gold medal for first place to Nurse M. W. Harvey, and the books, for second place to Nurse G. L. Young. In congratulating the nurses, Mr. Wallace said the recent successes of the nurses at Auckland ' had resulted to some -extent from the fact that the nurses were given ong day . off in each week.. He hoped, that both nurses would go far in their profession.
A neat metal lapel badge of membership was presented last evening to each member Sf the Hospital Board by tho chairman, Ir. W; Wallace. " >
A . farewell social was tendered at Matakohe to Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Cooksey and family, old settlers, who are leaving to take up residence at Auckland. Mr. J. Sterling, who presided, made a presentation on behalf of the residents. The Rev. R. A. McDonald and Mr. G. Smith also spoke in appreciation of the personal qualities of the parents and family and their service to the community. They have ' been loyal supporters of the Anglican Church and all movements for the .public good. : Captain T. Henderson has resigned jfrbm the New Zealand Shipping Company's shore staff to become master of the "West Coast steamer Wetere. He was 'foe some time president of the Auckland ;braneh of the Merchant Service Guild and on Monday was presented with a leather suitcase by the committee and members. The'foreman of the New Zealand Shipping Company presented Captain Henderson with a travelling rug.
