SAFETY IN MINES.
CENTRE PROPS DISPUTE.

A deputation tvaited on the Hon. G. J. Anderson to ergo the abolition of centre props in the State coalmines, which the men consider dangerous. The Minister quoted expert opinion, which was in favour of centre props. His instructions to inspectors and managers wero that the safety of tho men should bo the first consideration. The matter would be further considered and he would then give a reply. His idea was to sot up a committee to inquire into the matter.
