MOTOR-CYCLE TRIALS.
GERMAN TEAMS RETIRE. AUSTRALIANS FARING WELL. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Itecd. 0.135 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 18. The members of the three German teams who were competing in the motor-cyclc (rials have retired. It is now only necessary for one of the three li.nglish teams to complete the trials to retain the trophy. The three Australian competitors are exceptionally speedy and sure on the stiff hill climbs, where many others have coine to grief. There were two accidents 011 the western moorlands. One machine overturned and the rider sustained a broken rib. In the other case a tyre burst and the rider sustained concussion of the brain. The Australians arc offering the greatest resistance to England for the international silver vase. Norway is a good third. Holland, au well as Germany, has retired.
