NEW LYNN AFFAIRS.
MEETING OF TOWN BOARO.
A meeting of tho New Lynn Town Board was held this week, the chairman, Mr. C. F. Gardiner, presiding.
It was suggested by the secretary to the Local Bodies' Association that a remit be sent on to the proper authorities asking that the amount allowed local bodies under tho heading " unauthorised expenditure" bo increased. The board considered it inadvisable to have powers in that direction increased and no action was taken. The Minister for Justice, Sir James Parr, writing in answer to the board's request for increased police supervision in the district, said New Lynn was one of several districts round Auckland where additional police would be provided as soon as money was available. The building inspector reported 'that during tho previous fortnight four permits were granted. At present nine houses were in course of erection. Plans and specifications had been lodged for a new picturo theatre.
