SCHOOL FOOTBALL.
Sir,—-I aan surprised that all parents do not agree on lie subject, of public football for schoolboys. What kind of confidence does "Another Parent" mean ? II the gam© itself u not productive of confidence. why should an audience give it? Does ne. mean tha kind of confidence obtained by an amateur actor at the dress rehearsal ? If the actor type of conifidence is to be gained it merely shows that the boy is thinking of the onlookers and not of the game | this in itself is fatal to the true sporting spirit. A boy should play jnst as good a game of football with'.a couple of teachers* looking on as he would in front of a screaming, yelling crowd of barrackers; in other words, the onlookers should not exist for him. If he needs this noisy crowd to make him play a good game, that is the strongest possible argument against playing in public. We want our boys to grow up sports, not vaudeville actors. Tebtitjs Qrax
