THE STATE OF THE ROADS. [BY TELEGRAPH, —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMUTU. Saturday. Tho rainfall recorded at To Awamutu during July totalled eight inches, making tho total for tho past threo months, 23.58 inches, tho figures in May boing 7.52 and in Juno 8.06. The vital statistics for the month in tho To Awamutu district were 18 births, 4 marriages and 9 deaths. The roads aro standing up fairly well to the winter traffic. Tho Waipa County Council's restrictions on heavy traffic during tho wintor period have been generally observed. A stretch of the main South Road just inside tho Otorohanga County is in need of repairs, but tho recent wet weather has prevented tho county teams carrying out authorised work. The Waipa county engineer has been busy lately pegging off a further three miles of the Owairaka Road, which is destined to givo an almost level route between Ta Awamutu and tho country to the south-eastward, including Arapuni.
