CONCLUSION OF CONFERENCE
MR. ROBERTSON HONOURED
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRE S3 ASSOCIATION.] "WELLINGTON, Thursday. The annnal conference of the Railway Officers' Institute concluded its sittings to-day. Over 100 remits were dealt with by the conference, and of those that received approval 11 were referred to the Minister for Railways, tho conference forming into a deputation for that purpose. Tha members of the Railway Board also met members of the conference and discussed 20 of the remits that were passed. The remainder of the resolutions fwero referred to the executive committee with instructions to bring them before the management at the earliest opportunity. The election of office-bearers for tho ensuing year resulted President, Mr. V. R. J. Stanley, Rangataua; vicepresidents, Messrs. W. A. Finlayson, Wellington, and 11. S. Skinner, Dunedin; general treasurer, Mr. L. Barclay, Wellington; Wellington Executive Committee, Messrs. A. S. Henderson, E. W Barnes, G. Nelson, M. Vance, R. O. Croudis, A. E. Coleman and F. K Hunt.
The presentation of a silver tray suitably inscribed was mado to the retiring president, Mr. J. R. Robertson, who did not seek re-election. Reference was made to Mr. Robertson's value as a railway officer and a member of the institute, in connection with which he had been for four years in the presidential chair. Members throughout tho Dominion, it was stated, regretted that Mr. Robertson could not continue in the office.
