grant for exhibition. [BY TELEGRA I'll. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] IE KUITI. Saturday. The Wuitomo (bounty Council met. yesterday, Mr. |J. Were presiding. It was decided to contribute £IOO toward the cost' of the Auckland provincial court at tlio Dnnedin Exhibition. Messrs. JL J'oddy and C. K. Wilson were appointed to represent the council on the district committee. It was resolved to protest to the department against individual revaluation of land, it being pointed out that when the council estimated a certain revenue from ! tbe land for the year, subsequent revaluations seriously affected the rates collected and upset the finances. On a petition from the ratepayers concerned, a separate rate of one penny in it lie £ was struck over the Manganui■Waikawau special rating area for the jxiaintenanco of those? roads.
