THE NATIONAL PARKS.

QUESTION OF CONTROL. (F SUGGESTED NEW BOARD. With a view to more effectively coordinating tho work of Government departments controlling the Dominion's national parks, the New Zealand Tourist League is endeavouring to have established a National Parks Conservation Board. It is suggested that the board should be on similar lines to organisations of the same type which have done excellent work in America and Canada. The league hopes by this means to supplement the work which for many years has been done by tho Scenery Preservation Board in the purchase and reservation of bush and scenic areas. The board consists at present of representatives of the Lands and Survey and Tourist Departments, but it is hoped to extend its scope by including representatives of other departments which exercise supervision over other classes of reserves and also of non-official organisations interested! in the matter. Tho proposed board, the league suggests, should comprise two representatives of tho New Zealand Institute, one member appointed by the Governor-in-Council. and one representative of each of the following departments:—Lands and Survey, .Forestry, Public Works arid Tourist.
